Dear Reader,
It’s been a month since the release of The Highland Crush, and we’re delighted that so many of you have already read it and fallen in love with Lewis and Iona, just as we did. ❤️
In the comments we’ve received from readers, one scene that’s mentioned a lot is the romance book event in Edinburgh. A lot of you agreed with Iona that it was the perfect date.
We won’t say too much here, as we don’t want to spoil things for those yet to read The Highland Crush, but events like that really do happen. In fact, RARE24Edinburgh (that’s Romance Author and Reader Events 2024, Edinburgh) is taking place next weekend (6 and 7 September). It’s the event that inspired us to include that scene in our story.
Some amazing authors will be attending RARE, including Meghan Quinn, who, like us, has written a story called The Highland Fling. (We think her book is great!) We’d have loved to go along, but… we have a royal appointment!
Okay, it’s not a “royal appointment” exactly, but we’ll be at the Braemar Gathering, which is the world’s best attended Highland games—and which the UK monarch usually visits. We’re not 100% sure if King Charles will be there next weekend, but there’s a good chance he will be. 👑
Anyway, we thought the Braemar Gathering would be good research for our books. Hopefully, we’ll take a few decent photos, which we’ll then share in next month’s newsletter. For now, here is some character art of Lewis and Iona reading a romance book together:
Oh, and if you’ve not yet read The Highland Crush, you can grab the eBook or paperback from Amazon.
And if you have read it and enjoyed it, please do consider leaving a review, or even just a star rating. Thanks so much!
The Highland Game
If you’ve got to the end of The Highland Crush, you’ll know that the next book in the True Scotsman series centres around Jamie and Maisie.
Book four will be called The Highland Game, and here’s the cover:
What do you think?
We’re excited about this one. Jamie got up to a lot of mischief in books one to three, with his risqué jokes and constant teasing of his siblings. It’s going to be fun putting him through his paces and making him work for his happy ever after.
The eBook is available to pre-order now.
Scotland in the News
The UK’s first romance-only bookshop has opened in Edinburgh. We’ll have to go visit!
A Netflix survey found that the Edinburgh accent is the sexiest in Scotland. As for the Glasgow accent (where we’re from), apparently it’s… the least sexy. Outrageous!
The top 15 jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival have been unveiled.
For various parts of Scotland, it’s been the wettest summer on record. It really has felt like it! ☔
xx,
