Dear Reader,
We’re back, and we’re feeling energised and inspired after our holiday up north.
More on the holiday below, but first, there’s something you do not want to miss.
Romance Book Blast
Today is Romance Book Blast! Over 450 romance eBooks are free for one day only.
We’ve had a look through the books that are included in the promotion this time around, and there are some fantastic reads to be grabbed. There’s a superb range of titles, with more than double the number of books that were in the last Romance Book Blast.
To view the full list of novels, simply go to romancebooklovers.com.
From there, you can click through to your preferred retailer (e.g. Amazon) to download any book that tickles your interest.
And the best part is, it won’t cost you a thing! You can get as many titles as you want, and it’s all absolutely free. 😁
Adventuring Up North
Over Easter, we went up north to the beautiful Loch Tummel for a bit of time away from everything, to relax and unwind.
On the drive up, we passed through the most beautiful landscapes, but they were blanketed in white. Never before had we seen so much snow in April! We began to worry our holiday was going to be considerably colder than we’d been anticipating. ☃️
Thankfully, it was only that first day when the temperatures were low. There was a mix of sun and rain for the rest of the week, but no need for gloves or winter jackets. We read books, admired the Highland cows, went on walks with our dog Daisy, and did some exploring.
We found an old abandoned mansion called Dunalastair House, which captured our daughter’s imagination.
But she was even more excited when we came across an activity centre at Killiecrankie that offered a “Highland Fling”—no, not a copy of our latest book, but a bungee jump off a bridge!
She was a bit young for that, but she and Gavin were able to take a zip line from one side of the river to the other, and she was utterly fearless, despite the height.
Anyway, it wasn’t only the business’s name that got us thinking about our books—it was the nature of the business itself. After all, as readers of the True Scotsman series will know, Ally and Aidan set up their very own adventure company.
Talking of the boys, here’s some concept art of them in their wetsuits:
Scotland in the News
A mystery postbox has been discovered in a desolate moor in the far north of Scotland, miles from the nearest house. A clue inside led to an old web page featuring an image of a bare-chested German man dressed in a kilt and brandishing a sword!
Three years ago, a young woman discovered she’s a whisky “supertaster”. Now she’s the director of a whisky blending company.
2024’s first official sighting of the Loch Ness monster has been recorded. (The photo is a little underwhelming! 😂).
Lyrics on Taylor Swift’s new album reference Glasgow band The Blue Nile.
Following the disastrous Willy Wonka event in Glasgow, Freddie Highmore starred in a mock trailer for a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sequel (for Jimmy Kimmel Live!).
And for the very first time, Star Trek’s Scotty is to be played by a Scot.
xx,
Amy and Gavin
